Embattled singer, R. Kelly may have more to worry about other than just the recent docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly” which was aired by Lifetime as it has been learnt that a prosecution might be underway.
It is gathered at least one victim of Kelly and the families of two others alleged spoke with Chicago prosecutors yesterday, January 8th 9. According to the report, they believe that they have sufficient evidence to take the singer to trial for sexual abuse and other crimes.
Following the release of “Surviving R. Kelly” which saw some of his alleged victims coming forward to recount their experiences, there have been mixed reactions majorly negative trailing the singer. Now, a family member of one of the alleged victims has put it upon himself to gather evidence packet for the Cook County State Attorney.
This is coming after State Attorney, Kim Foxx said on Tuesday afternoon that she was sickened by the Lifetime docuseries, “Surviving R. Kelly” and asked anyone who was a victim or has information about a victim to come forward.
Not only that, an attorney for another alleged victim made it clear she was going to contact the appropriate authorities on behalf of her client.
Those behind the efforts said they were fanning out to find other victims who would join their united front before presenting their cases to the State Attorney.
It would be recalled that prior to Lifetime airing the docuseries, the singer threatened legal action against Lifetime should they go ahead with the airing of the docuseries that he says paints him in a bad light. However, Lifetime went ahead with the airing and in a bid to save his image, a web series, “Surviving Lies” has been launched by Kelly’s team to tell his side of the story. Although the website hasn’t come alive yet, there is already a Facebook page with the same name.
