The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 announced that the date for resumption of Nigerian schools remains Monday, January 18.
The PTF’s coordinator said: “… for the moment, it is still 18th January until the ministry of education comes back either with an alternative date or reconfirm that.”
PTF pointed to increased travels, reopening of businesses, and religious activities without strict compliance to safety protocols as facts that has helped to spread recent infections.
While it is yet to change, it still could. Schools could start and still be asked to shut down. The second wave of the virus has been confirmed to be escalating by the federal government. It has also been confirmed that the coronavirus variant has gotten to Africa. It is still advisable to wear a mask and sanitize.
