Even during the curfews and pipe down by the Nigeria security forces, some residents of Maza-Maza, Mile 2 area in Lagos, on Thursday, discovered a warehouse where COVID-19 palliatives were hidden. The COVID-19 palliatives, reportedly meant for residents of Festac-Okota but were withheld in the warehouse.
The warehouse is said to be located in Monkey Village, Maza Maza, in Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos, eye witnesses said.
In a viral video, the angry youths are seen carting away food items which were branded Ca-COVID palliatives Lagos State, included countless bags of rice, cartons of noodles, spaghetti, salt, vegetable oil, tomato paste, beans, garri, and lots more.
Food items believed to have been released by the government to cushion the effect of COVID-19 on the people, but were unreleased.
It is unconfirmed, in the course of this, four people are said to have died from stampede as people struggled to gain entrance into the warehouse.
Videos, which have not been authenticated, showed many people storming the warehouse and carting away several food items with sacks labelled “CA-COVID (Coalition against COVID-19), NOT FOR SALE.”
