Business mogul, Jimoh Ibrahim recently lost his mother to a fire accident according to the announcement made by the family although his brother made statements insinuating something else as
She died abruptly in a way and time they hadn’t expected. But who expects this things anyway?
Some people wish that time will stand still and the universe will keep mothers and exempt them from dying .
Although death is inevitable, we never conceive or imagine not having our mothers on ‘speed dial’. In our subconscious we know they will die one day but no one is really prepared for that finality.
There is a reason women and mothers have days set out to celebrate them and there sure is a lot of preparation for this.
Sometimes in conversations some people murmur and question why there are days set out and people take advantage and throw parties and have other fun fair.
Some people wonder why all this attention, well…
A mother carries a full human in her body for almost one year and then births this human being in so much pain that lasts hours, sometimes this pain can last for one full day. Imagine wrothing in pain for 24 hours. It is not fun.
When the baby is born, she does not get full credit, as the father is somewhere in the corner beaming while his friends congratulate him on ‘being the man.’
She nurtures the baby while constantly fretting for every sniff, cough or flu. She behaves like a lunatic if and when the child is threatened or injured even if is just a small scratch or bruise. She is heartbroken when the child fails at something dedicating her time, quitting some of her pleasures to instil good values and modesty in the child.
She makes sacrifices, quits her promising career, holding back, giving up great opportunities and sometimes friendships, making unnecessary and un-savoury connections to ensure the success of her child.
She always hovers even after the child is fully grown.
All they do is with instinct , done involuntarily, the strength coming from an unknown place.
Losing a mother is devastating. No matter how much you are aware and are prepared, it hits you like a train.
