It is customary to have people use fireworks and gun salutes to mark a celebration. Some young people even flash pistols to show off and even fire as an erroneous mark of superiority during celebrations. Well, until you probably come across death by grenade.
Some young people have in a show of happiness fired a pistol at a baby dedication all in a bid to express their respect and happiness for their friend.
There have even been reports of a fatality during a burial when a stray bullet from a gun killed an onlooker.
Recently at a traditional wedding being held in South Wello Zone in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, a grenade exploded and killed the groom and his best man. According to the police the grenade was owned illegally by the groom. Can we call this “Death by a Grenade”?
It is suicidal and even homicidal to have such dangerous weapons used during celebrations because it might not only harm the owner but the innocent bystanders can become casualties.
There are safer and more memorable ways to show happiness than setting off grenades and firing guns.
Celebrations shouldn’t be dangerous or end tragically, because the aftermath and the trauma will remain for quite a long time.
