Tourist attractions are usually breathtaking sites and places used to lure people into visiting a place. In an unusual turn of events, Godfrey Kiwanda has revealed a plan to use curvy women as tourist attraction. During a press conference he stated that he will organize a Miss Curvy Uganda pageant.
He aims to use this beautiful curvy women who portray the real African beauty to promote the tourism industry.
The pageant is said to show the beauty, elegance and intellect of the women.
This announcement however does not go down well with some people who opine that this is objectifying women and portraying them as a piece of product that is merely used to earn more money for the country.
Would they be paraded like animals or displayed like pieces of meat in a showroom? This to a large extent may give an underlying message that may be misconstrued and mean that these curvy women are somehow for sale.
Using curvy women or women in general as a marketing strategy for a country seems inappropriate and expose them to certain risks.
