Hol’ up! Liquid diets are a thing now?!
You cannot escape the dieting culture. Whether you are shopping at an over-the-counter store, watching tv, going to the mall, shopping for customized products or just breathing, dieting has become a part of our culture.
With over half of the world’s population struggling to fit into the ideal shape of a bigger butt, smaller tummy and a bigger breast size, dieting is the “IT” culture for many.
A lot of times this ideal figure can be achieved by exercising but there are people who simply hate to exercise and would rather drink or take pills for a long period of time without any solids.
So yes, liquid dieting is now a thing. With the keto and paleo trend taking over the slimming and fitness world, liquid diets promise you the same thing exercise dieting
True, there are people that you know that are consuming this liquid diets and losing weight. Some five pounds, others 10 but the thing is, as soon as you start eating food again, glycogen (a form of glucose) starts to build up AGAIN. “Your body craves food and you overeat to compensate for the calories and nutrition you didn’t get while on the liquid diet,” Abby Langer, a registered dietitian and owner of Abby Langer Nutrition said. Hence the fat returns pretty fast.
Another thing is the loss of Muscles. What you wanted to lose was fat yes? And lose you will. But (oops!)
When you are on a liquid diet for too long, your glycogen burns not just the fat, but it goes for the fat cells and muscles which is hard to gain back.
And one more thing: Detox…Now, hasn’t detox being demystified already? The liver does the detoxing for you. You don’t need another. Next (wink)
