Elections have been postponed but the anticipation and dread of the aftermath still remains. While millions are praying for peace and asking all the powers that be to ward off the ominous dark cloud of uncertainty hovering over the horizon some cannot wait to wreak mayhem and confusion.

However, you do not have to be all negative and lock yourself indoors, it is inevitable that citizens exercise their franchise and it can be done with minimal danger and loads of precaution.

To say safe during especially Election Day, here are some tips that can save your life.

However it is inevitable for some who must exercise their franchise.

Do Not Argue About Politics In Public

No matter how well versed in the affairs of the nation and political trends, do not argue with anyone during the election. The polling unit abound with thugs that can lynch you for ‘speaking out of turn’.

Do Not Disclose Your Candidate To Anyone

No matter how loyal you are to your party or candidate, do not sing it to the high heavens. There is a reason it is called secret ballot. Even when someone wants to engage you and be friendly, be very wary and guard your tongue.

Do Not Wear Campaign Uniform

There have been ample opportunity to fly party flags and wear campaign uniforms, even an extra week has been given. Even if all your clothes have the party logo on them, go and borrow an outfit from a friend to wear to the election.

Be Abreast Of The News From A Reliable News Agency And Sources

Before leaving the house get as much information as you can on what is going on from news agency and reliable sources. 

While at the polling unit, be security conscious and listen to the news via your portable radio or mobile phone.

Go Home After Voting

Immediately after casting your vote, kindly go home, unless you are a political party agent. There is no reason to hang around. It is best to get the result from the news. It is unsafe to loiter when there is no need to.

Avoid Crowds

It is very important that you avoid crowds. Do not associate with people who loudly analyse, castigate and badmouth candidates or political parties in public. They may be agent and thugs trying to lure you into divulging your candidate of preference in order to target you. Steer clear and act safe.
