Are you one of those people who dread the confines of a gym? Or perhaps, the gym prices are out of your budget? Or Maybe the gyms being closed during the lockdown is affecting? Whatever your reasons are, we feel you.
Some people are of the opinion that one can’t keep fit without a gym, that is totally wrong. Being fit comes from exerting energy. And we exert energy when we move our bodies. The intensity, duration, and endurance of the body movement would constitute a fit body.
The good thing about not going to the gym is the amount of money it saves you. Most times, the only thing you would need for these workouts are shoes and willpower.
We’ve highlighted some ways to keep fit without going to the gym.
These exercises are as old as time itself. For beginners, start with walking, progress to jogging, and then run as you get stronger. Or you could run for five minutes, then jog, and run. You could mix as you desire.
Do not be of the ideology that these can only be done in the morning. You could do it in the evening, or on a non-sunny afternoon.
If you’ll be running in the morning, or late evening, make sure to pay attention to your safety. Don’t run through lonely routes. And always be on the lookout for suspicious behaviors.
With these workouts, listen to your body for intensity and duration. Don’t push yourself beyond your limit.
If a workout is going to make you feel more competent, it’s yoga. At first look, it might seem easy, but yoga is one of the hardest things you’d ever try. Depending on your level, you would find somewhere to start; beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
There are apps and tons of YouTube videos giving free lessons on yoga.
Yoga aligns your body. It helps you meditate and center yourself. It increases your flexibility. Yoga makes you stronger.

You may turn to learning choreography or freestyling. Dancing is dancing. There is no right or wrong way to do it. Just plug in the music and move your body!
30 minutes of intense dancing burn at least 350 calories. This makes dancing a viable way to lose weight and keep fit.
These are a range of exercises requiring just your bodyweight. They help you build weight and sculpt your muscles. These exercises consist of push up, pull up, leg raises, squats, etc. They can be done in the comfort of your bedroom.
Make sure to progressively increase your repetitions. This means if you were able to do 15 push-ups, at a go, last week, you should aim for 18 0r 20 this week. This will make you stronger over time.
This is a major cardio workout. Jump ropes are one of the few exercises where you’re engaging every part of your body at the same time; you’re working your leg muscles, glute, core, arm, and maintaining stamina.
Jump ropes can be done anywhere and are one of the easiest ways to lose weight and keep fit easily. Be sure to increase your repetitions and styles.
