If you work 9-5 in Nigeria, a public holiday will always be a breath of fresh air for you. You can turn off the annoying alarm that makes you jump out of bed and sleep like a normal human being, you will have time for yourself and for the things that matter to you. You also have the opportunity to hang out with friends and create memories.
Today is the 1st of May and it is a public holiday in Nigeria, yay! Workers day is celebrated every 1st of May. Instead of staying at home, wondering how to go to your place of work tomorrow, you can decide to have a good time.
If you do not know what to do today, we have a list of ways to enjoy your public holiday.
Visit The Cinema
When last did you visit the cinema? If you haven’t visited the cinema in a while, now will be a good time. There are a lot of local and international movies in the cinema for your viewing pleasure.
Visit A Tourist Site
Nigeria is blessed with a lot of tourist attractions. If you haven’t been to any, today is a good time. If you are in Lagos, you might want to visit places like Lekki Conservation Centre, Nike Art Gallery, Nnamdi Kanu Park, La Campagne Tropicana, Omu Resort and others. If you visit any of these tourist attractions, you will begin to appreciate your country and your city more.
Read A Book
If you are someone who relaxes with books, you should consider doing that today. Books help you grow. If you need to horn your leadership skills, you can check out Simon Sinek’s Leaders Eat Last, if you need a book on how to grow and live your best life, read Abraham Kola Amodu’s Thirty Before 30. If you are interested in being prudent in your finances, you should check out The Richest Man in Babylon. For fiction, authors like Debbie Macomber, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Nora Roberts, Helon Habila and others will leave you at the edge of your seat with their powerful storytelling.
Get A Massage
Nigeria is stressful enough and a little pampering of yourself is refreshing. Go on a spa date, you really don’t need to go with anyone. Go to a spa so that the masseuse can manipulate your soft tissues to relieve you of stress and tension.
Sleeping is another way to have a blast. When last did you sleep for up to 8 hours? That’s exactly what we are talking about. Lie down and sleep. Put your phone on airplane mode and sleep, you need it.
We promised to give you 5, but an extra one won’t do any harm.
Clean your house
Most working-class Nigerians hardly clean their house. There are probably sachets of water and junk lying around the house. The excuse for this is ‘there is no time’. Well, now you have time, it is a public holiday. Get to work and give your house a new look.
Make sure you have a blast and happy new month.
