Many of us suffer from different health challenges and complications due to a lack of sleep.  The use of mobiles and TVs in bedrooms to changing work-life patterns have all contributed to a chronic shortage of slumber.

From increased chances of heart disease. dementia and even a damaged DNA, the negative effects of a lack of a good slumber to the body and mind cannot be overemphasized. This is one of the reasons why doctors advise that at least eight hours a night is needed to maintain a healthy body and mind.

If you are one of the many people dealing with the issue of getting proper nighttime bedrest, these five nighttime rituals could be the answer to ensuring a good night’s rest.

Drink Plenty Of Water

The body is made up of 70% water and since dehydration causes under-eye puffiness, you should hydrate yourself by ensuring that your body gets enough water. Drinking plenty of water helps you sleep better at night and your body system function properly.

Avoid Alcohol

Binging heavily on alcohol can affect your sleep pattern and not only does alcohol dehydrate you but it can also lead to grogginess. You can blame a lot of things on alcohol but your lack of sleep shouldn’t be one of those things.

Avoid Salty Foods

Intake of salty foods can cause water retention and bloating which will hinder you from getting the much-needed sleep that your body needs.

Sleep On A Pillow To Enhance Lymphatic Circulation

Research has shown that the use of a soft pillow can help you sleep better at night so if you don’t currently use a pillow, you should consider getting one.

Wash Your Face

Washing your face before bedtime helps you avoid clogged pores, acne and rashes. Having a healthy and smooth working system ensures you sleep better at night.
