Nigeria’s number one Starboy Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun professionally known as Wizkid has added another feather to his cap after his track “Joro” reached one million Shazams.
Shazam is an American application owned by Apple Inc. The application can identify music, movies, advertising, and television shows, based on a short sample played and using the microphone on the device.
Many users use the application to discover the title of songs they hear others play and it is amazing to find out that the Nigerian act is one of the most searched for on the platform.
Shazam made the announcement that Wizkid’s Joro which was released in 2019 has reached one million Shazams.
Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, Shazam tweeted:
This is coming on the heels of the former president of the United States Barack Obama announcing his annual list of top songs in 2020 via a new Spotify playlist.
The former American president took to social media to share his favourite songs of the year, while listing records like “Essence” by Wizkid featuring Tems.
Other song which were listed by the former president includes, “Repeat” by J.Hus featuring Koffee, “Damage” by H.E.R. and “Savage” (Remix) by Megan Thee Stallion featuring Beyoncé.
Obama also shared his thoughts on Twitter, he wrote;
“Here are some of my favourite songs of the year. As usual, I had some valuable consultation from our family music guru, Sasha, to put this together. I hope you find a new song or two to listen to.”
