Big Brother Naija has become a ticket to fame. Contestants who appear on the show, in a week (the earliest a contestant could be evicted), go on to nationwide popularity.
Getting known is the first part. It takes blood, sweat, and tears to become successful enough to be influential. And with the case of some ex-BBNaija contestants, they fade into oblivion.
We’ve compiled a list of the most influential ex-BBNaija contestant.
Chukwuebuka Obi-Uchendu is the most successful and influential Ex-BBnaija contestant. He was born on 14 July 1982. Obi-Uchendu is a Nigerian lawyer and media personality from Okija in Anambra State, Nigeria.
In 2006, he came in eight on the first edition of Big Brother Naija. To date, he is one of the most visibly successful BBN 2006 cast members. He was hired as the host of the TV show since the second season.
In 2013, producers of Rubbin’ Minds, the popular TV talk-show for young Nigerians, announced that Ebuka Obi-Uchendu would be the new host of the show.
On 15 April 2015 Ebuka got engaged to an HR manager, Cynthia Obianodo in Lagos. They got married on 6 February 2016 in Abuja. On 8 November 2016, they currently have two children.
Obi-Uchendu, over the years, has solidified himself as a fashion icon.
Mercy Eke won season 4 of BBNaija in October 2019, becoming the first woman to win the reality show.
Eke is from Imo State, Nigeria. She attended Egbu Girls Secondary School in Owerri and graduated from Imo State University in 2014. Eke appeared like a vixen in the music video for Davido and Ichaba’s single Baby Mama.
After auditioning four times, Eke entered the Big Brother Naija house on 30 June 2019. She was announced as the winner in October 2019, becoming the first woman to win the show.
After winning season 4 of Big Brother Naija, Eke became an ambassador and influencer for various organizations. In 2020, she made her acting debut in the Nollywood film Fate of Alakada.
Eke has signed endorsement deals and become a brand ambassador for numerous brands, including Ciroc and Mr.Taxi.
Anita Natacha Akide popularly known as Tacha or Symply Tacha is a former Big Brother Naija housemate.
Tacha was born on December 23, 1995, and hails from Port Harcourt, River State in the south southern part of Nigeria.
Tacha completed both her primary and secondary school education in Port Harcourt, River State, Nigeria, and obtained both her First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate.
Tacha first gained fame as an Instagram Influencer. She competed in the BBNaija PepperDem edition. During her stay in the house, Tacha, who was nominated to be evicted every week, would always get the audience’s highest vote. Although she was disqualified, she went on to be one of the most famous BBNaija contestants of all time. She has built a brand including a sportswear line and multiple endorsement deals.
Bisola Aiyeola was born on January 21, 1986. Bisola attended the National Open University of Nigeria where she studied business management.
Biola is a reality competition staple. Aiyeola was one of the contestants at MTN Project Fame West Africa in 2008 where she came 5th. In 2017, she appeared on the series Big Brother Naija where she was the first runner up. From 2011-2013, Bisola was a one-time TV host of Billboard Nigeria which aired on Silverbird television. In 2017, Bisola was nominated for City People Movie Award for Revelation of the Year (English). In 2018, Bisola won the Trail Blazer Award at the AMVCA.
Cynthia Nwadiora is popularly known as Cee-C. She was born in Enugu and graduated with a law degree at Madonna University. She consequently acquired a qualifying certificate at the Nigerian Law School in 2014.
Cee-C competed in the 2018 edition of Big Brother Naija, Double Wahala. She was known as a controversial figure due to her outbursts. She became the second runner-up. Although critics were skeptical, Cee-C has gone on to be a successful entrepreneur. With over 2.6 million Instagram followers, this BBNaija alum is not slowing down anytime soon.
