It appears that R.Kelly might be ‘living his best life’ in his music career.
The artiste who has been the focus of the sexual abuse allegations in a docuseries “SurvivingRKelly” has become a major superstar in the Billboard charts.
According to Billboard, they have witnessed a spike in two of his hit songs following the popularity of Lifetime’s docuseries.
The songs, “I Believe I Can Fly” and “Ignition” appear on the R and B Digital Song Sales Chart at number 19 and number 12 respectively.
Ignition has also seen over 191% purchase increase since the series aired last month.
Nielsen Music also notes that the song has been downloaded 2000 times more the week ending January 10, its highest since January 12, 2017. More so, Ignition saw a rise with 3.1 million streams that same week.
“I Believe I Can Fly” since its debut on the Billboard R and B Digital Song sales chart has recorded its highest success at number 16 until this moment.
This means that the Essential R. Kelly project re-enter is now number 19 on the Billboard 200.
In addition this, it ranks number 144 on Billboard 200 and at number 46 on the Top Catalog Albums.
Meanwhile, Sony has dropped the singer from their label.
