Reno Omokri seems to be fond of sparking controversy. When he is not attacking top political officers, he is busy sharing his unusual opinions. And he was at it once again this morning.
Reno Omokri tweeted earlier today that the word ‘pikin’ originates from the slave owners, that it was an insulting name they used in addressing “dark-skinned child of African descent.”
Here is a snapshot of the tweet:
Judging by that, it appears we’ve been insulted our whole lives, albeit unknowingly, by our parents. Reno’s tweet was an eye-opener for many Nigerians although, some Tweeters commenting on the post were of the opinion that since it means a different thing to us, there’s nothing wrong with it.
Today for Reno Omokri was about taking Nigerians back to how some of the words they use all came to be like Lagos, Port Harcourt and so on. It seems we Nigerians have this problem of using names whose meaning we know nothing of. Anyway, as our parents will often pray
“let what we don’t know not kill us.”
