It is not unusual for Nollywood stars to have a public breakup. Although, few among them have made a video denouncing their marriage. Nollywood star, Chacha Eke, took to social media to announce that her marriage to movie director Austin Fanni Ikechukwu is over.
What was apparent in the video was the distraught in the actresses’ appearance and words. The mother of three children shared the post on her IG page. She gave no details as regards to why she’s leaving the 7-year marriage, but said she’d tell the full story someday. The couple celebrated their 7th wedding anniversary in June this year.
To celebrate the anniversary, the actress took to Instagram to gush of her marriage and hubby: “7 years ago when Tino asked me to be his wife, I laughed so hard thought he was kidding. Well, 7 years and three children later, I’m still laughing and he clearly wasn’t kidding.”
On her breakup, this is the excerpt from the video: “You will say I am crazy, but I am not. This video is to let the world know that I am done with the marriage. I don’t have a lot to prove that I am done with him, but I am done. I’m done. I am leaving with my life finally. I can’t say a lot now. You will hear my story’.
Chacha had always been open about marriage. She would claim that she felt no pressure being married because her husband was her best friend before they got married. This friendship eased her into the marriage. Eke has always been of the opinion that marriage is not for everyone.
Making a comment on feminism, she said that women have the power to control men and thus should not attempt to become men.
