While we debate who will claim the iron throne, knowing that this great TV show that has inspired massive devotion ends when that conflict is settled, HBO reveals that there will be a spinoff. This article already covered most of your pressing questions about GOT’s prequel like when the production will begin, whether it will feature characters from the original show and how close the story is to the plot of Game of Thrones.
Save for the nightwalkers and the land of Westeros, GOT’s prequel will have an entirely new and fresh perspective. It is set 5000 years before the events in GOT began, so you can expect the story to be gripping enough to keep you at the edge of your seat. According to HBO network, the prequel:
“chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hours.”
So who are the faces we will soon be hating or rooting for in the upcoming series? Meet the stars HBO named below; a handful of them have already featured in movies that earned them some accolades.
Naomi Watts (The Impossible, Twin Peaks, The Ring, 21 Grams and King Kong) was among the first cast members that HBO mentioned, along with Josh Whitehouse. The only known information about her lead role is that she will be playing a “charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret”—which is too much detail compared to other casts.
Josh Whitehouse is also starring in the pilot but HBO didn’t reveal anything about his character. Josh holds credits in movies like Modern Life and Poldark.
Denise Gough featured in the flick Colette and also appeared alongside Andrew Garfield in Angels in America.
Ackie’s TV credits include Doctor Who, Yardie, Cleaning Up and The Bisexual. She will also be starring in the soon-to-be-released blockbuster Star Wars: Episode IX.
Atim is best known for acting on stage. She is prominent for her works in The Royal Shakespeare Company and The West End. Her first appearance on TV was in 2018 when she acted as a regular in the Hulu series “Harlots.”
Jamie Campbell Bower
If you are a fan of the fantasy genre, you may have seen Campbell Bower in fantasy movies like New Moon, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and Harry Porter.
Henley is best known for her role as Lucy Pevensie in the Chronicles of Narnia TV series.
Ivanno Jeremiah has appeared in Doctor Who and Black Mirror. His name would have still accompanied GOT in a sentence even if he wasn’t featuring in GOT’s spinoff. Jeremiah, according to Variety, will be starring alongside GOT stars Iain Glein (Jorah Mormont) and Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) in an upcoming movie The Flood.
You can check out the acting prowess of Toby Regbo in movies like CW’s Reign and in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Miranda Richardson who featured in Harry Porter as Rita Skeeter and has also appeared in The Hours and in Sleepy Hollow will be a series regular in Game of Thrones prequel.
Sharp starred with Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman in How to Talk to Girls at Parties.
S.J. Clarkson (Director)
S.J. Clarkson’s directing work in fan favourite TV series like Orange is the New Black, Heroes, Bates Motel, House and Succession speaks for her. She knows her onion. The upcoming Star Trek franchise movie also has her as the show runner. Besides being among the executive producers of GOT’s prequel, Clarkson will also be directing the pilot of the prequel series.
