Kit Harrington, best known for playing the ‘royal bastard’ character Jon Snow in Game of Thrones is reportedly getting treatment in rehab for alcohol and stress issues.
Page Six reports that the London-born actor checked into the luxe Prive-Swiss health retreat in Connecticut weeks before the GOT finale that aired on May 19. Sources revealed that the 32 years old Kit Harrington has been struggling with alcohol and stress issues especially after his character’s unexpected and difficult ending in the hit show.
According to a friend of Harrington, Game of Thrones’ ending as a whole “really hit him (Harrington) hard.” Game of Thrones’ was Kit Harrington’s life for 8 years and realizing that it was overfilled him with grief and relief. Speaking with Esquire in April about filming Jon Snow’s final scenes, Kit Harrington said:
“The final day of shooting, I felt fine… I felt fine… I felt fine… Then I went to do my last shots and started hyperventilating a bit.
Then they called, ‘Wrap!’ And I just broke down. It was this onslaught of relief and grief about not being able to do this again.” “But the weirdest bit,” he added, “was when we came off set and they started taking the costume off and it felt like being skinned … It felt like they were unceremoniously for the last time ripping off this character.”
In a documentary about GOT titled ‘The Last Watch,’ Kit Harrington broke down in tears when he discovered how his character’s story will end. It was not long after the release of that documentary that news about Harrington being in a retreat to take care of some personal issues emerged.
Supporting Kit Harrington at his time of need is his wife, Leslie Rose, who he met on the set of Game of Thrones.
