Desmond Elliot, former Nigerian actor and representative of Surulere constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, commissioned a toilet in Gbaja community on February 21 which infuriated members of the public.
After posting a picture of himself commissioning the project, some Nigerians took to the internet to allege that the toilet cost about N200,000.
In an Instagram post, he wrote,
Perhaps, it was not the reaction he expected from the public as they wrote on various media including his page that it was appaling that he now follows the path of the corrupt.
However, he had some still come to his defence.
It was only after the backlash that some realised that it was indeed the Australian High Commission that handled the project, an information he left out in the above post but corrected in another post:
He also explained that the BIOFIL toilet is
“not just a toilet”: “This
isnt just abuilding , its not just atoilet , but one that converts waste to manure so nothing is wasted as we keep the environment clean.”
Recall that Elliot was the subject of the attack a while ago after he was accused of writing IELTS in the same location as the accuser.
