With the blood tie that exists between Jon Snow and Daenerys, fans can’t help wondering how the whole sizzling romance between both Targaryens will turn out. We knew Jon was a goner when he called Daenerys ‘Dany’ and couldn’t stop drinking her in with his eyes. They both were: Daenerys who countered Tyrion’s talk about her being drawn to Jon Snow with “he’s too little for me” probably saw him in a different light after witnessing his loyalty to his people, his strength in making his way back alone from fighting the white walkers and his scarred chest.
Jon made the move we’ve all been expecting and half-heartedly dreading. He knocked on Dany’s door and she welcomed him in—consummating their love or maybe lust. ‘You know nothing, Jon Snow,’ Ygritte’s words couldn’t be more fitting at that moment. Jon Snow had no idea that his biological father is Daenerys’ late brother, Rhaegar Targaryen.
Was It The Targaryen Blood In Jon Snow That Attracted Daenerys?
It was definitely not love-at-first-sight for the two dragon-blood lovers. There was no arrow-shooting cupid hovering over Daenerys and Jon Snow in Dragonstone when they first met. Jon Snow was there to form an alliance with the dragon queen and as attractive as she may have appeared to him, her three growling dragons flying above the castle was enough to keep the heady rush of romance in check for Jon. And nothing about Jon was pleasing to Daenerys then—he claims to be the king in the north and he won’t bend the knee.
However, Daenerys soon began to notice Jon, especially after she returned from the battle of the Goldroad. Drogon landed close to Jon and though he was scared, he stood his ground and petted the dragon and the dragon allowed him. Daenerys’ surprise was visible on her face: the dragons are usually aggressive towards complete strangers. Probably, the dragon recognizes a Targaryen when it sees one. That action quickened her interest in Jon and prompted her to ask Jon about the whole “taking a knife in the heart for his people” that Ser Davos was talking about.
Is Jon Playing Daenerys?
He kind of played Ygritte, making her believe he is no longer interested in being a crow when he was actually with the wildlings as a service to the Night’s Watch. Sure, the attraction was there, just like it is between him and Dany now. But that didn’t stop Jon from doing what he did.
Jon probably got hooked on Ygritte like Gendry on Arya because she initiated him to the sex club, yet he couldn’t stop Ygritte from getting killed. The poor guy has been horny and through all the political unrest: getting back to Castle Black, bringing in the wildlings, getting stabbed and resurrecting, he has not had the time to satisfy his cravings.
An opportunity came in the form of a sensuous and experienced woman like Daenerys—plotting war strategies together is enough to send him into overdrive. And lucky him, the attraction was mutual: they rocked the sheets and it was good, so he kept satisfying her and footing her demands, leading up to The Long Night. Daenerys did help him fight the icy zombie giants at the great battle of Winterfell, didn’t she? What happens now that the Night King is dead, especially with Jon finding out that he is the heir to the Iron Throne?
Is Dany Only Using Jon?
The determined and one-track minded queen doesn’t love easily. Jorah was like a puppy in love but he didn’t get a crumb of romantic attention from Daenerys. Why?
Daenerys digs strength, leadership, good looks and virility—Jon Snow possesses all those qualities. So far, she has only released her cookie to men with such qualities. What differentiates Jon Snow from Daario Naharis whom she used as a sex toy and walked out on? Daario is the leader of the second sons and Jon Snow has a leadership position in the North.
Or Is It That Jon Is Destined To Have Doomed Romantic Relationships?
Daenerys keeps asserting that the iron throne is her destiny, but what is Jon’s destiny? To get romantically involved with women who are dangerous for him?
While Ygritte may have had true feelings of love for Jon, gaining entrance into the wall was more important to her. She was ready to kill him when she discovered he is still loyal to the Night’s Watch. For Dany, her feelings for Jon is far below her longing for the iron throne. If her actions in the latest episode of the series are anything to go by, Danaerys won’t give Jon Snow any pass if he does anything that undermines her ambition—not to forget, she is also his aunt.
